How old do babies have only started to see colors? would be a rainbow as a decoration or in a baby room?

I to make a decoration for a project on child dev class. an ornament or a toy. IM thinking for a rainbow and put it in the window so that the light can shine through the different colors. for baby in sight. or if anyone has any other ideas?
