Moms, I need an opinion on cots: Should I splurge for the home, or should I get a playpen or bassinet?

Should I go ahead and get the first Crib, or should I start smaller? How long until the baby outgrows the bassinet or playpen? Wow, a lot useful advice. Thanks everyone! I'll have to put this in a community vote.

Moses is very nice but did not last long with babies fast growth. I used a crib, but I have one that turns into a Toddler Bed and the yard was big to keep at a safe place while I do some tasks. I have rollers mine so I could move around the house with me
