Wood treatment of the child's cradle?
I just build a Baby Bed of fir wishes to maintain the natural appearance of the finish recommended by above any outher is a security problem with a toddler?
The unique finish that is nontoxic, it is shellac. Get "clear" shellac (sometimes also called "blonde"). When shellac is exhausted, that is absolutely secure. Even the pill is used to coat and fruit (such as Advil and apples). It dissolves in alcohol, but once it dries, the alcohol has evaporated and only the shellac is left behind. This will give you a slightly amber wood, but will still be the natural wood showing through (unlike paint). No other shellac finish that is nontoxic. If you want to paint the crib, then buy milk paint. It is not toxic and therefore safe toys, etc Shellac can be purchased at The Home Depot. Milk paint must be purchased at a specialty store.
