How to plant flowers in these containers?
Okay, so I have two boxes of 12x12x9 cedar and a rectangle box 12x24x9 too. They good drainage in the bottom and I have no potting soil recommended to me by the good folks at Lowes. I am also thinking of putting a layer of pebbles at the bottom of all boxes to improve drainage. I went out today and bought many different types of flowers, Shasta daisies, English daisies, bells, petunias, flowers and balloons from local nursery. Now, my question is this ... How many I can plant in each box? Some of the flowers of plants that many inches apart, so does that mean I can plant them (for example) in the 4 corners of the square box? So what happens to all that space in the middle? Also, how far I can mixed types of flowers in the same box? Sorry for a very detailed question, I am somewhat of a novice at this! 
Hello! Your question is perfect detail. It only thing missing are the size of the recipients of its plants in wine (4 "pot, pack of 6, ...), how many gallons per plant, and I also like to know colors as well. I like to put screening (for window screens) in the bottom of my pots to keep the soil in. So, his empty pot; layer of small stones, pea gravel, selection cut to the bottom pot, potting soil (fine mixed Osmocote to fertilize), then planting your plants. If I were you, I would buy a garden book written specifically for your area (my "bible" plant is Sunset (magazine) Western book Garden), in the long run, will save you time and money. ... At least that was my experience! Ha Musts: 1. considering exposure (sun, shade, partial sun / Shadow) for each plant, and put the plants with the same needs in the same pot. 2. consider the needs of each plant moisture (dry soil, wet soil, etc.) and put the plants with the same needs in the same pot. Shasta daisies grow 2 'to 4' tall, they need regular water and full sun exposure; Petunias grow about 1 'tall and have a habit hang charming (2' down on the edge of a pot), need full sun exposure, and can be done normal water (not exaggerating), I had put the two together in the same 12 "x12" x9 "cedar box. balloon flowers need sun to shade light, moderate water, and grow to about 3 'tall. I had put these in the middle of the other 12'x12 "x9" box, and I like to buy a package 6 of lobelia or alyssum and 4th floor of these small plants (instead) evenly around the edge of the box. As they grow, they will cascade over the edge of pleasant the box (even if they are labeled as vertical, usually fall under the weight of its own flowers). bells (bell) can be such a wide range of sizes (2 " about 5 feet tall!), plus the sun need, although some varieties need shade of light, some need very little water, others need moderate water ... I probably plant them in a line down the center of your 12 "x24" x9 "rectangle box and return to Lowe's and buy a pack of 6 or 15 thyme (almost any kind) to the ground in a zig-zag about 1 inch from the edge of the box. Thyme will have very little to moderate water, and (again!) grow out and down ... It looked so nice. English daisies, hmmm ... they need full sun to partial shade and plenty of water. I'll probably buy a new boat for them (unless your bells are a variety that also need plenty of water, in which case, I pair up). In my mind, flowers paired with herbs or vegetables are lovely together. (Important: do not eat vegetables or herbs unless you are absolutely sure that there are no impurities in their pots or the ground, also, if you eat vegetables or herbs, the use of manure compost, fish fertilizer or other organic fertilizers are recommended for garden products! This is my first time on this site. I hope my answer is not too long or too confusing information or ... best of luck.
