The justification for the hiring of a fair model is simple - you nail the first impression, taking the maximum publicity old selling sex. And during model years fair was a staple, pulling show-going crowds towards the booths and is expected towards the products. Recently, however, trade show models, or are better known as "booth babes" have been going the way of the caribou. Case in point, the SHOT Show 2008, previously known for its connection to guns and girls, so lacking in trade models show that Field and Stream magazine was forced to stage for his annual review with pictures of male models sporting unusually long beards, and causing many readers to question why the speakers to play with a good thing?
In 2006, the Electronic Software Association (ESA), the trade group behind the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) issued a press release for the first time, the dress code, usually ignored by models, be executed. And by "forced" ESA meant a warning followed by a fine of $ 5000. Common reasons related to the implementation of this new rule derives from the reputation of the show (previously described by David Adams of IGN as "rude"), the fear that the ESA was the commercialization of sexual content explicit to children, and the fact that the game industry was reaching sales parity with Hollywood. There are, of course, a common thread between these arguments: the product does not need sex, the place I needed to be considered professional. For ESA, the game has matured beyond the quick, impulsive sale gives sex, and finally a legitimate part of the halls around the world.
The ESA said exhibitors fair to do something every speaker must do anyway, they should consider its brand. If you are an entrepreneur, an executive, or simply an employee, trade shows are worked with the explicit intention of attracting the attention of quality brand. The exhibitor fair is there to create emotion that must ultimately turn a visitor into the cockpit of a regular customer. The stand is a means to relations forge a lasting peace on a personal basis. A job allows a company to press the flesh and advocate with a passion that simply can not be found in advertising traditional. So why risk a company potentially isolate half of those attending a conference with a baby stand?
Half? Good, nearby. According to a survey by AffiliateTip.com, 70% of respondents and 41% of men surveyed (56% of total) said they were less likely to see a stand that uses a baby stand. By contrast, 29% of respondents overall said that a child stand caused no opinion, and only 15% said a child placed would positively impact their opinion of a stand. Blogs browsing will lead to even bigger mountain of anecdotal evidence suggesting that not only are individuals less likely to see their shows at the fair, if a child is placed for this, but in reality are more likely to form a negative opinion of your company to boot.
Of course, not all fairs are following the trend presented by the ESA, however, booth babes seem to be breaking it. Using booth babes at YAPC (Yet Another Perl Convention) led to a thread in the Council of Perl Use official message regarding whether or not booth babes should be used in another conference. The quote seemed to sum up the experience was for "being so self show.
The debate over the use of the booth girls, even the leaves of the fair, with various media the debate about whether to continue to feature photos of the "best" girls, often opening the debate to readers. Tom's Hardware, a forum and a media focused on technology that raises the question to its readers and the response of the first cut to the heart of the matter - the juxtaposition of the "with" minor and against the mainstream "of adults who oppose and technique. Tech Republic, also opened the question up to its readers and also gathered responses. It seemed that even the media was turning their backs on booth babes.
There are, of course, a definitive theory about why what the speakers were moving away from trade show models. In 2006 at E3, Disney was there presenting the tie game in his film Pixar animation "Cars." There are some near-life examples of vehicles the size of the movie star was, you guessed it, a model of fair. The model in question was dressed head to toe in tight black jumpsuit with plunging neckline and a checkered flag, running band shelving sides, and covers enough to show that Disney could play by the rules E3. Perhaps the whole world saw Disney as screen really jump the shark and everyone simply moved on.
Whichever theory you subscribe to - maintain a professional image, fear of isolation from potential customers, or simply go one step ahead of Disney, the use of models of trade shows are certainly in decline. And, as John Davis, the editorial director of Ziff Davis Media Game Group, told ABC News, "I have the girls since they will not make any difference." Instead, girls, the new trend seems to be presenting its products in a professional manner, cabin with workers beyond trick or sex and instead have a passion for their brand and a knowledge base to match. I suppose one for the sale higher quality?
