infected tooth hurts! You do not have dental insurance. HELP!?
My dentist told me years ago to remove my wisdom teeth because they have not has room to grow. I was a baby by him and did not do it. Now 5 years later my lower left tooth is wisdom that gives me problems. Becomes pain and the other day I think the popcorn kernel stuck in the gums surrounding the teeth. I brush and floss and then the next morning, my face was very swollen. (He seemed like he had a golf ball on the cheek) I have since been in the emergency room and was given antibiotics and pain medication. My question is ... I have no dental insurance and are ineligible to work for at least 5 months. If I finish my antibiotics to clear the infection, "I can wait that long for the tooth? I'm in pain now, but has been taking pain medication for it. I'm afraid of not having dental coverage and I'm not financially stable. Can you tell me what do? At least tell me what I can do until you can afford to see a dentist? Can the spread of infection or back a bit? Thanks
A tooth infected, an abscess, or as they are called are extremely painful. Antibiotics and pain medications over time will help the teeth become less infected but once you stop antibiotics the infection will return and usually much more painful the second time. You should not wait five months for this tooth infection by a tooth abscess may spread to the throat, causing airway obstruction and can spread to the heart and brain and cause serious problems and sometimes fatal complications. As a dentist always recommend trying to save the tooth to have a root canal, but in a financial position of the extraction may be your best option. PLEASE see a dentist in your area to discuss a treatment as this can be extremely painful and serious. Also try using cold compresses, do not use heat as this can cause the infection to worsen and spread and become more painful. Try to find a dental school in your area. PLEASE do not take the advice of "Foreign Dentist" then once you take your antibiotics will not win six months to two years of relief from his infected tooth. You will get pain relief once the antibiotics start working in the infection, but once you stop taking the infection will return and usually much more painful and severe. BY PLEASE, by all means see a dentist as Soons as possible.
