What color furniture should I put together with brown carpet and light brown wall / ceiling paint?

The room I do and it seems very dark brown on the ceiling and a carpet of darker brown. I do not want any dark! I would paint a wall accent and would rather not put any light on the furniture, because I have children and who know how that is .. Please give me your ideas!
