Painting Ideas to go with Pottery Barn bedding Chase?
Ok ... dilemma. I am using bedding from Pottery Barn Kids persecution in my nursery. Not crazy to paint the walls blue, I think it would be too blue. I was gonna go with a light neutral color on all walls ... but wanted something a bit unique. Am I a chair rail? If so, what color?? Should I make an accent wall blue?? Chair rails are not well take into smaller rooms? I do not want scratches on the walls because that would be too many stripes, but maybe some kind of design that? Help!

I like how their color palette is presented, I like that You can search by color family and color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and suggests coordinating color schemes. Instead, I like to contrast the bedding with a color as "flashlight" (# 6687). And then, if you want to do a feature wall or some other design, do it in a cafe as "portobello" (# 6102). Very elegant.

Rimas - a great way to learn history
Ever wonder how the nursery rhymes were made and what is the message behind each rhyme? Me bothered me since I've been singing Jack and Jill, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and more to my son this year. Mothers should be aware and know what they are singing to their children. Rhymes are not just a bunch of words to make our children sleep at night, they really teach us a little history.
The poems and rhymes are traditional songs taught to young children. Different learning nursery rhymes can help in the development of vocabulary and counting skills. Nursery rhymes for children to appreciate music.
Here are some of the most famous of nursery rhymes and their history:
Jack and Jill went up the hill
Published in1795, the poem originated in France. Jack and Jill is said that King Louis XVI, who lost his crown (beheaded) and his queen Marie Antoinette, which the poem came later. The poem was revised to make it acceptable for children and to provide a happy ending! Decapitation of the real Jack and Jill was during the reign of terror in 1793.
London Bridge is falling
London Bridge is falling rhyme is actually about a famous monument in London. London Bridge was originally built of wood and clay and was rebuilt with different materials which are also mentioned in the nursery rhyme. Some of the disasters that struck the bridge were Viking invaders and fire.
Humpty Dumpy
Would you believe Humpty Dumpy was really a big gun? War was a cannon used during the English Civil War. In 1648 was a town called Colchester town with a castle, several churches and was protected by a wall. Right through the walls of the city is the church of Santa Maria and a Grand Canyon, called Humpty Dumpy was intentionally placed in the wall right next to the Church of Santa Maria.
Rain Rain Go
The origin of the rain Rain "disappear" dates back to Queen Elizabeth I, who was an English Tudor monarchs. During this time, Spain and England rival constant. The Spanish Armada was sent to invade England, but was defeated. Only 65 Spanish galleons and only 10,000 men returned to Spain. The failure was attributed not only by the way the English fought the smaller vessels, but also by the storm which scattered the fleet of the Navy.
These are just some of the famous singing nursery rhymes to my son. Remember, next time you sing a lullaby or a nursery rhyme with your child, make sure you tell them a little about how the rhyme got its name.
