The lava lamp has survived the 1960s to become a style icon. Whether for nostalgia or retro look for your soul, still in vogue today.
In terms of interior design from the 1960s and 1970s were decades in particular have had a positive impact. However, there is a piece 1960 decorating kit has a special place in my heart. I refer to the omnipresent lava lamps. Their masses viscous wax came in a variety of psychedelic colors. You might find in purple, lime green, pink and yellow, among other tones. Lava lamp would become my main focal point each time that one was around.
Every time I was in a room with one, my attention turned to it automatically, as if hypnotized by the suspension of vibrant colors. I found a pleasure to be completely innocuous and rather relaxing, especially if combined with Indian music and the aroma of incense.
People of my age to buy lava lamps that are manufactured today by nostalgia while young people are attracted to its retro look. Than can be considered tasteless and ordinary today, but I find strangely relaxing. Maybe it's because they invented in more buoyant times.
Are still being doing today, bought by my generation, for reasons of nostalgia and youth who love the retro look of them. I know they are poor quality and in black - but there is something strangely comforting about them. Perhaps they represent a more optimistic age. You may even possibly buy one but really did not sit well with the rest of the decor. I suppose it could be a curiosity or period piece, depending on the tongue in cheek to justify me being surprised that my friends buy all decorative arts home from Ikea. Perhaps not such a good idea after all: you probably would not have much work to do if the trance state that before I put on something to happen.
Today you can buy plasma lamps, but are colder, soulless and far less affable than the good old lava lamp. My favorite of all time, lava lamp color is purple because it makes me think of Jimi Hendrix Purple 'Haze. Perhaps psychology students should look at the links between someone's favorite color lava lamp and personality.
Craven Walker invented the lava lamp, by chance discovery by accident and would have had no idea of his invention future cult status.
