What do make of this attitude after 3 years of close friendship?

I had an argument with my best friend over a week ago and she has cut off all contact. However, over a period of 3 years we have never argued and even had nice vacations together. I have apologised more than once, both at the time of the argument and via a polite email. But she has not forgiven me and will not say why. It is doing my head in.

Hey. First of all, I think you've apologised enough. When someone apologises to you, the gracious thing to do is to accept it and not be petty - sadly, your friend doesn't seem to know this.

It probably feels slightly unreal to you that she's behaving like this, given all the nice times you two've had before now, but you think you know someone and then... something like this happens.

Seen it, done it, been there If she doesn't want to make up, no amount of apologising from your side will sway her, and as I said, I think you've made a huge effort already, and you shouldn't contact her again until she contacts you. If she wants to be petty, fine, but perhaps she ought to learn that being petty is something that will lose her a nice friendship! The only way that is going to happen is if you shrug your shoulders, accept that you did your best, and focus on other things for a while. If she comes round, great. If she doesn't... do you really want to be friends with someone who will do THIS to you every time you disagree?

Sorry it's harsh, but good luck and hope she comes round/you manage to move on if she doesn't!
